My Journey From Health Enthusiast to Top Recruiter

I’ve always loved health and fitness. By the time I was 25, I had already taken part in three bodybuilding contests. I thought I’d keep doing this for my whole life.

I got my certification as a strength and conditioning coach and even started my own personal training business, which I ran until I was 26.

This business was exactly what I wanted at first, but soon I wanted to achieve more and earn more. My personal training business hit a roadblock, and I realized that to reach my bigger goals, I needed to switch to a different kind of work.

The idea of working in sales, like some of my friends, was both interesting and a bit scary to me. But in the end, I decided to give it a try, and that choice has led me to where I am today.

My Foray into Sales

In 2018, I began my sales career by selling solar door-to-door with Revo Home Solutions. I was lucky to have inspiring bosses and motivated colleagues around me.

It was the perfect crash course into the world of sales.

Thanks to their advice and my own hard work, I quickly grew from a beginner to a skilled salesperson. This experience showed me that you don’t have to be super outgoing to succeed in sales.

Soon, I was promoted to a leadership role and managed a small team.

This part of my career was successful, but the long hours and tough nature of the job made me realize that I didn’t want to do this forever.

Discovering My Calling in Recruiting

At the end of 2019, I joined a small company called Secca Search Group, which specialized in recruitment. I wasn’t very familiar with what recruitment involved, but many of my friends recommended it as a good career choice.

The appeal of recruitment for me was its potential for high earnings and a clear path for career advancement.

In this job, I picked up the fundamentals of recruitment with the help of a great team, and I also made friends who I’ll keep for life.

Unfortunately, my time at this job was cut short in 2020 due to the COVID-19 shutdown. However, the basic skills I learned there set the foundation for my career growth in the following years.

Where I’m at Now

After Covid I was able to join the company Austin Vita where my recruitment career really started to take off.

I won rookie of the year in 2022, was promoted to lead recruiter of the northern California territory, and had more success that year than I could of imagined.

I am now with BioTalent as a Senior recruiter in the QA/RA medical device space, and continuing my path to success.

This is what inspired me to create Aware Recruiter. I want to help as many people as I can get out of toxic work situations, find better jobs, and excel in those new roles.
